River shuttle for TAN (Nantes)
The city of Nantes has always been at the forefront of innovation where public transport is concerned, and so we wanted our project to match. The creation of a new and innovative concept is the means we chose to respond to the business of river transport.
These new craft were carefully designed to meet two main objectives:

  • To guarantee an efficient and continuous transport service using clean, modern technology.
  • To deliver a fleet of elegant craft whose appearance would bring benefits to all, respecting an exceptional environment.

To ensure the success of this project, we have brought together two well-known leaders; one from the field of navigational matters (Bateaux Nantais), and one from the field of ship design (Flahault Design & Associates).
The general lines and profile of this single hull vessel illustrate a desire for elegance and restraint.
Its elegant superstructure and transparency allow its harmonious integration into the urban riverine scenery.
The craft’s horizontal, classical lines and its white and grey colour scheme have been taken from themes already shared by the other urban transport systems (trams and buses). Its “neo-retro” appearance can hardly fail to stir up memories of a bygone age, which lives on in the spirit of the people of Nantes. (The Roquios, the Léchalas).
